Zzero Sufuri is a gengetone musician born in Dagoretti somewhere known as Kabiri. Back in the days he never thought that one day he would become a top musician in Kenya.

Before fame, Zzero narrates that they used to record ciphers with his buddies from Dagoretti. They could rap and sing but it was all for fun.

Education

Primary school at Satellite school Ruta. About his secondary school education, he attended like seven schools and it is in the eighth school that he was able to complete his education. Unfortunately, when the result came out he had performed poorly, he got a mean grade of D.

Career

After high school, he got into arts and went to Kambi Fulani to study arts. The only thing that seemed easy to him and which he could do was to sing. Zzero admits that he still loved to write compositions after completing high school. He wrote stories and thought of converting the stories into music songs.

Zzero has like over 200 songs written and he will be uploading them one by one on his Youtube Channel.

Zzero Sufuri Zimenishika

If at all there’s any new-age musician that I hold in high regard then it is Zzero Sufuri. Suffice to say, this young dancehall artist is very talented.
The first time I listened to any of his songs was in January 2019. I came across a song that he had done with a lad know as Kadu as I was trawling the internet one gloomy day. The song titled Wase Wase was so good that I had it on repeat for the rest of that day. His style was different. I don’t have a word in mind that best describes it. All I remember is that I kept hitting the replay button.

Zzero released two other songs after Wase Wase and then, he dropped a jam that will go down in the memories of music fans as one of the best songs in 2019. It’s so good ladies and gentlemen. Dubbed Zimenishika, the song is about smoking weed and the feeling around it. However, if you listen keenly, you’ll appreciate the fact that the lyrical flow was well-thought-out.

As you listen to the song, especially the chorus, you’ll notice that it has a small element of mumble rap. Some of the words are almost incomprehensible.Like the part where he says, “Kiko kwa kichwa kimejificha si ni kimbichwa yoh, si ni kienyewe kiko kwa kichwa kimejificha yoh, kiko kwa kichwa kimejificha si ni kimbichwa si ni kienyewe kiko kwa kichwa kimejificha juu ni kimbichwa eeh.”

This is my favorite part of Zimenishika. It’s a tongue twister of sorts. I always try to sing along when I’m listening to the song and fail terribly. You should try it too. I mean, why not? The song’s beat is also superb. It’s a reggae beat with a hint of dancehall. It complements Zzero’s flow. It puts you in his shoes as he was recording the song so much so that you’ll find yourself using your TV remote as a microphone.

Zzero Sufuri and Ethic Grudge

I’m sure you are aware that Zzero Sufuri and Ethic don’t see eye. Their beef is so bad that the former dissed the Lamba Lolo hitmakers in his latest release dubbed Matisha. In the song, there’s a part where Zzero says, “Si ni kumatisha, wako lamba lolo isha tubore, hujaskia ma morio flani wakali wametoka Dago si wamekam na ingine mbaya si unasikia vile inadunda bro.”

I’m not sure where their bad blood started because they don’t even come from the same area. Zzero is from Dagoretti while Ethic is from Eastlands, specifically Umoja. So this is not even about regional supremacy or is it?

Admittedly, both Ethic – which is made up of Rekless, Swat, Zilla and Seska – and Zzero Sufuri are all talented. However, their styles are as different as day and night. If you are a fan of both artists then I know you agree with me on this.

To a large extent, Ethic’s music is raunchy. Most of their songs are about sex, women’s rears, boobs and genitalia and what not. Put simply, they are willing to cross every line to become a household name. But that doesn’t mean that they are not talented. If you listen to Ethic’s song keenly, you’ll notice some good rhymes and wordplay. Perhaps this is why most people are hooked to their music despite the fact that it’s explicit.

On the other hand, Zzero Sufuri’s music is not raunchy at all. He infuses dancehall with a small element of mumble rap and the outcome is totally amazing. I’m not even exaggerating!

In as much as their styles are different, at the end of the day, one of them must be better than the other. So, here’s my question. According to you, who is the baddest between Zzero Sufuri and Ethic?
