Why there are no Snakes in Iceland | Country with No Snakes in the World

When we talk of snakes, some might get scared because of snake phobia. These reptiles are very dangerous and are known to be enemies of human beings dating back to the biblical times. However, it seems there is a country that you can freely walk around without imagining of a snake bite.

So if you are one of the many people across the world who are scared and afraid of snakes then you can book your visa to Iceland and seek for citizenship there. This country has no snakes be it wild or those kept in zoos. Even the idea of importation of snakes and other amphibians is prohibited.

But the big question is, why are there no snakes nor other amphibians in Iceland? Well the answer is so simple.

Since snakes are cold-blooded reptiles, they control their body heat by taking in heat from the outside. But as the name suggests, Iceland is a country that is having very limited or little heat due to ice. So the climate is too cold for snakes to survive.
