Nominted female senator, Gloria Orwoba has been handed a six months suspension from the parliament. This means that she will not be allowed to sit in parliament chambers from now till February of 2024.
This will see her lose a lot of benefits such as big allowances accrued from sitting in parliamentary committees. She will also have to do an official apology to parliament before readmission.
Her suspension was duen to alleged messages she posted on Senate Business Whatsapp group. In her messages, the legislator accused male mps of seeking sexual favours from female members and she also said that there was a lot of discrimination in parliament.
However, when asked to provide evidence of her allegations, she filed to give substantive evidences. The mp also failed to appear before the Powers and Privileges committee to defend herself two times.
