Even the site of dead bodies sprawled on the ground could not scare away the residents from collecting things that were in the ill-fated Super Metro bus that caused accident today early in the morning.
As seen from video captured from the scene, eye witnesses who were mainly women are seen busy collecting grains of rice that scattered at the scene of the accident so much unconcerned of the dead bodies around them.
Some can be heard conversing in Dholuo and one specifically seemed to be referring the one of the dead bodies around them saying he/she was quite fat. Despite Ahero being in Kano known for the production of rice, hard economic times seem to have hit hard that what the locals produce is not enough. Here is the link to the video;
The accident happened at around 2:30 am when the bus which was headed to Nairobi from Kampala, Uganda collided head-on with an oncoming lorry when the bus tried to overtake. A total of 11 people have so far been confirmed dead.
