There are several supermarkets in the country. Making a choice on which one to visit for your shopping might be difficult or easy at the same time. If you live near a supermarkte, you are likely to develop a liking for it just because it is what is near you. But those who have multiple supermarkets around them will have to consider other factors in deciding which one to visit.  Here are 5 best supermarkets in Kenya;

  • Eastmatt

It started as Eastleigh Mattresses and was founded in 1990. It is now Eastmatt Supermarket. All of your fundamental necessities are offered at reasonable costs in this family-run retail establishment.

It has several branches in Kenya and some of them are;

Mau branch in Narok
Tala branch- Tala.
Mwea branch- Mwea.
Kitengela branch – Kitengela.
Eastleigh Branch – Eastleigh Section III.

  • Quickmart

One of the biggest supermarkets in Kenya that has been continuously expanding over the years is Quickmart. Over 36 branches exist across the nation for the shop, which was founded in Nakuru in 2006. They sell a wide range of items for reasonable costs. Additionally, they provide delicious meals from their delis, mouthwatering pastries from the bakery, and much more.

In 2019, Quickmart amalgamated with another store company, Tumaini Self Service Limited. When Quickmart and Tumaini merged, Quickmart had 11 locations and Tumaini had 13. The Quick Mart name was used to the new company. In 2020, the merger came to an end. Adenia Partners of Mauritius, through its fully owned Kenyan subsidiary firm Sokoni Retail Kenya, are the company’s largest stakeholder.

The family patriarch and late entrepreneur Shantilal Mulji Thakkar founded the supermarket company in 1964 as a single food shop with twelve staff members. The company has grown over time to include 20 locations in Kenya’s largest metropolitan areas. Anil Thakkar, Sanjay Thakkar, and Dipan Thakkar are three of the founder’s sons who oversee the business.
