The Public Employees Salary Coordinating Commission SRC said there will be changes in the salaries of the police service where now the lower level police officers will get an increase in their monthly salaries by one thousand shillings.
“Senior policemen have reaped a lot by getting a salary increase of up to 11 thousand shillings said SRC”.
According to the press, the SRC recommended the increase where now a foreign police officer at the lowest level will be receiving 21,645 shillings which is an increase from the previous salary of 20,390 shillings. Fellow officers who have served for a while at those levels will now receive 40,354 shillings from the previous salary of 38,975 shillings
In this change, the deputy inspector general of police will be receiving 209,079 shillings which is an increase from the previous salary of 197,830 shillings last month. The changes will be implemented immediately after being announced yesterday by the NPSC.
The increases are part of the salary changes for public employees every 4 years according to the SRC Commission. The change in salary increase according to SRC is aimed at protecting public employees against the increase in the cost of pensions.
