Kenyan musician Stevo Simple Boy has declared that Kenyans compare him to Tanzania’s music star Diamond Platnumz. He said that after Kenya’s stop hyping about the same he will release more jams. He said,
“Najua Wakenya na watu wengine walikuwa wanasema eti mimi ni Diamond wa Kenya. Kwa hiyo mimi nilikuwa nasema hizo zikitulia naachilia ngoma, unaona.”
The seasoned musician also urged Kenyan musicians to put in the work and release jams that make sense and pull crowds. He also urged musicians to sell jams that send a message to their fans just like he does.
” Wasanii wa Kenya watie bidii waache kuimba ngoma ambazo hazileti shangwe, waimbe ngoma amabzo zinamake sense. Wasanii sisi tunajituma Zaidi, ukiangalia mimi kwa staili yangu na wasanii wengine tuko tofauti. Mimi sana sana napenda kuhimiza jamii ambayo ni kuwapatia ujumbe, siimbi ngoma za kupotosha watu,” alisema.
Stevo also reminded musicians that a number of fans don’t just listen to music for fun. He reminded them that some fans prefer listening to music that they can listen to in the company of their children. He said,
“Unajua si kila mtu huwa anataka kusikiliza ngoma za hepi moments za kusisimua mwili hapana, mle ndani kuna wazee, kuna wale watu wazima, imbeni ngoma ambayo hata ukiwa pale kwa nyumba unaweza kusikiliza hata na mzazi,”
Stevo Simple Boy has become an internet sensation because of his popular catch phrases like ” Freshi Barida” and his popular song dubbed ” Mihadarati” among other songs. He rose to fame in 2019 upon the release of the song. His song gained airplay after which he was named the ambassador of of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) of Kenya in that year.
