Ringtone Apoko whose real name is Alex Apoko was born on 1st January 1994 and he is a Kisii by tribe. His childhood was marred with problems as his mother abandoned him at the door of a bar in Tom Mboya street where his father was allegedly a common visitor.
However, the father never showed up but an uncle who happened to pass by noticed him and took him to his paternal grandmother. The grandmother took care of him by selling chang’aa but she died just two years later leaving Apoko alone. He decided to go in the streets and he became a street child.
