The ODM political party has today expelled rebels from the party, among them Hon. Elisha Odhiambo of Gem, Sen. Tom Ojienda of Kisumu, Hon. Gideon Ochanda of Bondo, Hon. Felix Odiwuor Jalango of Lang’ata) and Hon. Caroli Omondi of Suba South for gross misconduct and defying party position. The mentioned MPs opted to go to bed with the government of the day terming their move as a bid to lobby for development within their areas of representation.
This has since not gone down well with the Odm party, terming it as an act of rebellion. This followed a pull and pull tag of war between the UDA and Azimio side with claims that the elections were rigged to favour the UDA side. The rebels turned rejects have since election found comfort in the Ruto led government, not wanting anything to do with Raila Odinga’s ODM.
The political parties act however gives ODM the go ahead to punish by way of suspension or expulsion from the party, members who do not conform to the party’s code of conduct and do not adhere to party loyalty dos and don’t.
However Rongo MP Hon. Paul Abuor and and his Uriri Counterpart Hon. Mark Nyamita who appeared in person before the Disciplinary Committee and explained reasons for their actions were reprimanded and fined a sum of Ksh. 1M each to be paid within sixty days.The two have received mixed reactions from their backyard with many branding them traitors of the party. However much this is a matter that is open for debate, The latter is a gubernatorial bidder for Migori County hoping to ouster sitting Governor Hon. Dr. ochilo Ayacko.
Others include Nominated MCAs in the Kisumu County Assembly Hon. Caroline Opar, Hon. Kennedy Ajwang’, Hon. Peter Obaso and Hon. Regina Kizito who will have their nominations revoked.
