Senator Okiya Omtatah is the senator for Busia county. He is actually one of the most vocal human rights activist in Kenya and he has appeared to court many times than any other man in Kenya.

Okiya Omtatah Orkoiti was born on 30th November in 1964 in Teso South Busia county. He is the only boy among his four elder sisters. Details about his parents are not out.

Okiya Omtatah attended St. Paul’s secondary school from 1977 for form one and form two then transferred to St. Peter’s School Mukumu for his form three and form four. H was admitted in the same school for form five and six and he finished his O levels in 1983.
He passed so well that he was offered a place at the University of Nairobi to do a Bachelor of Commerce degree but defiant Omtatah declined and instead joined St. Augustine Mabanga for a Diploma in Philosophy.
Growing up, Omtatah had passion for engineering and so he enrolled at Kenya Polytechnic for a Mechanical and Automobile Engineering diploma course.
Okiya Omtatah career
Okiyah Omtatah is known for his activism and this started right from his school days where he would always present his issues without fear before the teachers.
In the 2022 general elections, he vied for Busia senatorial seat on National Reconstruction Alliance, NRA party and won and he is currently the senator. He became popular in 2023 after he challenged the the Finance Bill 2023 which saw the court order for the suspension of the bill.
