Residents of Mlolongo town in Machakos were shocked after a lady identified as Jane Mwende was found brutally murdered. Jane Mwende who was a hairdresser in Mlolongo went missing and after few days her body was discovered in a pit latrine near a house in Mlolongo.
Foloowing this, police have arrested a group of individuals believed to have been involved in her disappearance and subsequent murder. The group of four included Peter Mwangi, Joseph Kariuki, Mary Wanjiku and John Njoroge. It is believed that they lured the deceased to the said house where they later strangled her to death before dumping her body in the pit latrine.
The real motive behind this act has not been revealed but according to preliminary investigations, it is suspected that the lady was involved in a love triangle together with another woman who is still on the run. Mwende was also a real estate entrepreneur aside from her hairdressing job and she had bought a piece of land in Machakos county.
Her family members are now banking on the police investigations to find out why she was killed. Meanwhile her body was taken to City Mortuary awaiting postmoterm before she is buried. Cases of disappearence and subsequent murder have been on the rise in the country and police are urged to tighten securityto avert such cases.
