Most followed Kenyans on Instagram 2023

Instagram is a social media platform just like Facebook and Twitty. It is also owned by the Meta company that owns Facebook. This explains why one can update their Facebook activities via Instagram and vice versa. This application is mostly used by celebrities as a platform to sell their endorsement products for companies.

In Kenya, there are some celebrities who enjoy very massive following on Instagram. They have over 2 million and above followers that make them among the top.

1. Lupita Nyong’o

Though she is not based in Kenya, this Hollywood actress is of Kenyan origin and a daughter to Kisumu city county governor Professor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o.

She is was born in Mexico making her Kenyan-Mexican citizen but she stays in USA. She became famous globally after winning Oscar award for her role in the play Twelve years a slave.

She has Instagram following of over 10.8 million as of June 2023.

2. Octopizzo

His real name is Henry Ohanga and he is a Kenyan musician based in US. Octopizzo was born and raised in Kibera slams before maneuvering his ways out of poverty through music.

He has 4.4 million followers as of June 2023.

3. Eric Omondi

The self proclaimed President of Comedy in Africa is a man of controversy and his role in the entertainment industry has seen him amass wide following on all social media platforms and on Instagram he has about 4.1 million followers by June 2023.

4. Tanasha Dona Oketch

Tanasha was living a low key life until she got into a relationship with Tanzanian singer Diamond Platinumz whom they have a son with, Naseeb Junior. Their relationship was highly publicized and when they broke up before the highly anticipated wedding many were shocked.

Dating Diamond introduced the media personality into music and she has now been engaged in music. Other than Music, she is also a media personality who works as radio presenter.

She is followed by 4 million people on Instagram.

5. Akothee  and Bahati

These two tie position five in terms of number of followers. They both have 3.4 million followers on Instagram.

Akothee is widely known for her ‘loud’ lifestyle apart from being a musician. She is also a businesswoman who owns several businesses in Kenya and outside. Her many marriages with both Wazungu and Africans also adds to her controversies.

Bahati is a Kenyan musician who begun as a gospel artist back in 2012 before switching to secular industry. However rumors have it that he is on his way back to gospel songs. His marriage with Diana Marua also made him gain fame as he was accused of marrying an older woman.  They are also known for engaging in a lot of Showbizz and clout whenever they want to release a song.

6. Betty Kyalo

This gorgeous and ever smiling media personality doubles up a business lady and entrepreneur who owns properties in high end estates such as Kilimani. She has about 3. 2 million followers in 2023

 

7. Jalang’o

Born Phelix Oduor, he picked the name Jalang’o which later became Jalas while he was involved in drama and theatre. He has a story of pain and inspiration on how he rose to fame. He is currently serving as mp for Lang’ata constituency.

He has 2.8 million people following him on Instagram.

8. Churchill and Size 8

Churchill is a big name in nurturing Kenyan artists and comedians by giving them opportunity in the famous Churchill Show. He is also a radio presenter.

Size 8 is a gospel artist and now a pastor of JCC. She is married to DJ Moh.

They have 2.7 million followers each.

9. Njugush

Njugush is a hilarious Kenyan comedian and actor who has featured in various dramas like the Real Househlps of Kawangware. He has 2.5 million followers.

10. Vera Sidika and Diana Marua

They both have 2.4 million followers.
