When we talknabout development in a country, what must be considered is the Human Development Index (HDI). This will take into account various amenities such as road networks, proper and modern housing, stable electricity supply, good and modern hospitals and other such factors.
 Mauritius:
This is an island country in the Indian Ocean. The largest portion of Mauritius’s population lives in Port Louis, which is the capital and largest city.
Mauritius has moved from the low-income country based on griculture to a country with diverse economy based on tourism, textiles, sugar, and financial services. It attained her independence from Britain in 1968.
It is ranked the highest among African countries in terms of economic competitiveness, a favorable investment climate, competent governance, and a free economy. They have a HDI index of about 0.84 as of 2020.
Seychelles:
Seychelles is also an island country whose economy is mostly based on tourism, agribusiness, and fishing. Most of ger workforce us employed with tourism industry. They have high GDP but still suffer from unequal distribution of resources making some part of the population poor. HDI in Seychelles is about 0.78.
Algeria:
This is country that is largely dominated by Arabs and is found in the northern part of Africa. It is Africa’s largest country by size. Algeria has oil reserves that drives its economy. Algeria’s Human Development Index is 0.745. Algeria exports oil and trade in petroleum and natural gas, commodities that is responsible for a portion of their GDP.
Tunisia:
Tunisia is also another northern nation in Africa and its economy is based on manufacturing, services, tourism, and mining. However, the services sector is contributing most to GDP. The Human Development Index of Tunisia was 0.725 at the end of 2015.
Libya:
Libya is found at the North of Africa and is known for its oil production which is the most contributor to the economy. A lot of oil deposits in Africa is found in Libya. Human Development Index value of Libya is 0.716.
Botswana:
Botswana is found in Southern and is arguably within South Africa as a country. The Botswana’s economy is based on mining, livestock, and tourism. Human Development Index here is 0.698.
Gabon:
Gabon is found in West Africa’s coast. Study showed that Gabon’s GDP per capita is about $16,400, indicating that the average Gabonese individual generates $16,400. Gabon is a major exporter of cocoa, coffee, sugar, palm oil, rubber, and, most critically, oil.
Egypt:
It is the most known Arabic country in Africa and is a member of both Africa and Arab world. Its economy is based on agriculture, media, petroleum imports, natural gas, and tourism. Egypt had a Human Development Index of 0.691 at the end of 2015.
 South Africa:
It is the southerly most country in Africa. The economy is mainly supported by the agriculture, industries and tertiary services. The HDI is about 0.660
Cape Verde:
Cape Verde is made up of a group of islands in the coast of West Africa. It has beautiful sceneries that attracted investors which saw the country developed to the current standards. It has a Human Development Index of 0.648.
