Lady Justice Mugure Thande has been making headlines after her latest ruling on the controversial Finance Bill 2023 where she suspended the implementation of the bill. She has also made headlines after being transferred just few days after the ruling.

She is currently 58 years old pointing out that she was born in the year 1965 though exact birth date is not public. She is a Kikuyu by tribe and was born in Thamada estate within Kikuyu constituency in the Kiambu county. Other details about her parents or marriage are not public yet.

She has been an advocate for over 23 years. Thande started off at B. W. Kamunge & Company Advocates in 1991 after her admission to the bar in that year and later moved on to Kagwe & Company Advocates between 1992 and 1997. After this she joined Kimani Kairu & Co. Advocates between 2001 and 2005 and became a Sole Proprietor of Thande & Associates Advocates between 1997 and 2001.
Before her appointment as High Court judge in 2015, justice Mugure was a Partner at Kembi – Gitura & Company Advocates.
