The management of the University of Nairobi has today given the students and staff directives on how to use the government’s E-Citizen portal to make payments for any services in any of the institution’s kitchens.

This is in accordance with government directive to the university to digitize their kitchen services to ensure all money gained from the kitchens do not get squandered.

According to the notice by the university these will be the charges;

  • Below Ksh.199 will be charged at Ksh.5
  • Between Ksh.200 – Ksh.299 at Ksh.10
  • Between Ksh.300 – Ksh.499 at Ksh.15
  • Between Ksh.500 – Ksh.699 at Ksh.20
  • Between Ksh.700 – Ksh.999 at Ksh.25
  • Over Ksh.1000 – Ksh.50

This has caused serious concerns from Kenyans who have questioned this move saying it might be just one of the corrupt deals in making. Others believe the service fees being charged us much and others asked what will happen to students who might not have their phones due to other reasons.
