“The Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Godwin Mollel, has announced that under the sixth administration of the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, a total of 128 emergency service buildings and 78 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) buildings were constructed nationwide in the year 2023.
Dr. Mollel made this statement today in Nanyumbu District, Mtwara Region, during a visit by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, as she greeted the residents of the district.
“This year, the government of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has constructed 128 emergency service buildings nationwide and 78 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) buildings to ensure easy access to these services for citizens,” said Dr. Mollel.
Furthermore, Dr. Mollel mentioned that the construction of emergency service and ICU buildings in the health sector this year was allocated a budget of TZS 6.7 trillion.
Dr. Mollel added that this year, 199 modern X-ray machines have been purchased and distributed to hospitals to provide services to citizens. Each modern X-ray machine costs approximately TZS 500 million.
“President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has reduced referrals abroad by enabling the health sector to provide sickle cell services at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital in Dodoma and the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Dar es Salaam through a machine capable of performing brain tumor surgery through the nasal passage,” Dr. Mollel explained.
He also mentioned that the machine for removing brain tumors through the nasal passage cost TZS 21 billion, which demonstrates President Dr. Samia’s love for Tanzanians in safeguarding their health and ensuring they do not face difficulties in accessing healthcare services.”
