Ida Odinga is the wife to Kenya’s all time best politician and popular opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Ida Odinga real name and date of birth
Ida Odinga was born as Ida Anyango Oyoo. She was born on 24th August in 1950 in Migori county. She was born among other five siblings. Her father, Mr. Nehemiah Oyoo, was a famous doctor in Kisii but he died when Ida was only six years. Her mother was called Rose Ayuya.

She joined Ogande Girls in Homa Bay county after her primary exams. She did well at Ogande and got a chance to join the University of Nairobi to do a degree in Education Arts. Ida graduated in 1974

Ida became a classroom teacher after her graduation from University of Nairobi and she has been a teacher in several schools such as Kenya High. Sadly, she was sacked because of her husband Raila Odinga’s constant disagreement with Moi after working for over 20 years.
In 1991, she founded the League of Kenya Women Voters which provided women with opportunities in political arena. She was the chairperson and championed for the women, children and the youths in Kenya.
She also became the managing director of East Africa Spectre that manufactures liquid gas cylinders in 2003.

Ida Odinga is married to Kenya’s famous politician Raila Odinga and they met in University of Nairobi where Odinga was a lecturer at the department of engineering. They wedded on 1st September, 1973.
They have been blessed with four children, two sons and two daughters. They are late Fidel Odinga, Raila Odinga Junior, Winnie Odinga and Rosemary Odinga.
