Facebook is one of the best social media platforms globally as it is used by over a billion people worldwide. It originated more than a decade ago an has seen tremendous growth over time. With the new ways of making money through social media, many have been wondering on how to turn their massive Facebook following to business.

Facebook monetization is simply how one can use his Facebook page to create contents that can earn him other money. There have been many questions whether Kenyans can also get monetized on Facebook and the answer is Yes.

In order to be eligible for Facebook monetization one must have met the following conditions as per Facebook regulations,

  • Your page must have 10,000 Facebook followers
  • Your videos must have 30,000 views

In Kenya, including ads in your video will help you in being able to monetize your contents. In-stream ads help you earn money by including short ads before, during or after your videos. Facebook will automatically identify breaks in your content to place your ads, but one can choose their own placements. The earnings are determined by things such as number of video views and who the advertisers are.

However, not all videos with ads will get monetized as other factors are considered.

Another way to monetize in Kenya is Adding a paid subscription to Pages. Fan subscriptions allow the followers to directly fund your page through monthly, recurring payments that you set.

A facebook user is able to Identify supporters by the special badge provided to them in comments, and reward them with perks such as exclusive content and discounts. Currently, access to fan subscriptions is by invitation only.

Thirdly, a creator can Collaborate with brands which will help in generating revenue by publishing content that features or is influenced by a business partner. Facebook created the Brand Collabs Manager tool, which enables one to find and connect with brands. One must request for access before tagging a business partner in a branded content post. Also,  to use Brand Collabs Manager, you need to apply.

Lastly, one can add a paid membership to groups.
Subscription groups empower group administrators to sustain themselves through subscriptions, thus enabling them to invest further in their communities. For one to qualify for a subscription group, you must be an admin of a Facebook group and comply with Facebook’s Partner Monetisation Policies.

It is the hope of many content creators that Facebook monetization will be more easier and friendly to them with time.
