Kenyan musician Miracle Baby has shared how he missed out on an opportunity to collaborate with Tanzania’s music heavyweight Diamond Platnumz. He claimed that Diamond Platnumz refused to collaborate with him in a song and asked for a huge chunk of money for a collaboration.
Peter also missed out on an opportunity to collaborate with Harmonize since he didn’t have his phone number hence wouldn’t contact him.He said,
“I wanted a collabo with Diamond Platnumz but he refused. He asked for a lot of cash.”
“At that time if I had Harmonize’s contact we would have done a collabo.”
“They both came at different times, they wanted to feature in Wamlambez, but I did not have their contacts.”
Miracle Baby claimed that he blamed his music gang labelled Sailor’s gang woes on a cartel. The music group created songs in Gengetone which has a unique style and sound that was seen as a threat to other music genres within Kenyan music industry.
“Kuna wasee wanaitwa macartels Hao wasee wakaa chini wakiwa na huko majuu na wakaambiana muziki tukiwa huku kuna place Africa haifiki. Ooh mmusic yetu haifiki Kenya, kwa nini? Wakachunguza… Wakakam kunotice ni vijana flani wametokea, mbogi, rende insahikana hivo wanapiga mzuka mbaya… Wanajiita Gengetone,”
Speaking during an interview with Mungai Eve, Peter narrated that the cartels approached Sailors gang and promised them support. The cartels promised the gang that they would cover their music videos and cost of production costs.
They enticed the young budding artists with the prospect of fame and a future. Although reluctantly, the group signed agreements with the hope that they would elevate their career and secure their financial future.
