Nelson Mahanga Mwita, a former deputy governor of Migori County, has gone away. His family has informed that he passed away from his sickness on Saturday at Nairobi’s MP Shah Hospital.
Nelson Mahanga had a distinguished political career, holding the position of deputy governor of Migori County from 2013 to 2022 for two terms in a row. During his time in office, he collaborated with Okoth Obado, the then-gov.
He leaves behind a legacy of dedication to the people and major contributions to the government of Migori County. During his whole tenure in government, Mahanga’s commitment to public service was clear.
The deceased, a reputable banker and marketer, kept a quiet profile up until Obado’s legal issues came to light. He was a graduate of the University of Nairobi with a degree in land economics, of USIU with a master’s degree in business administration, and of the London Chartered Institute of Bankers with a degree in banking. He worked in several capacities for local banks and was a lecturer before entering politics.
