It is a sad incident when police officers who are mandated to keep law and order and protect life and property are involved in causing death of the persons they should be protecting. Students from the Kabarak University on Sunday decided to go to streets to express their anger after a student died after being hit by a police van.
The student has been identified as Joshua Plimo, who was a first year student of Pharmacy at the university. Witnesses revealed that the driver of the van with government registration number had lost control after hitting a bump at around 9pm and hit the student.
He then sped off the scene probably to avoid the wrath of the angry witnesses. The accident happened along the Nakuru-Ravine highway. He was rushed to the school’s clinic where he was pronounced dead a few minutes after arrival.
“The student tried to avoid being hit by the speeding vehicle but it was too late. The vehicle hit him hard,” said a witness.
