Ezekiel Ombaki Machogu was born on 1st of January in 1956 in Kisii county Kenya.

He attended Nduru high school and later went to Agoro Sare where completed his O-levels in 1975. He got admitted at the University of Nairobi in 1976 to 1979 where he attained a degree in Bacher of Arts in Business Administration.

He started off as a District Officer under the office of the president. Machogu proceeded to become a District Commissioner up to 2008.
Machogu also served as Senior Deputy Secretary in Public Service Commission until in 2016. He then contested for Nyaribari Masaba constituency which he won. During his time as an mp, he served as a member of the committee on regional integration.
In 2022 general elections, he contested as Governor of Kisii county but lost to Simba Arati. Machogu was then appointed by William Ruto as the Cabinet secretary for the education ministry.
