Former Machachari actress Joy has revealed that she faced rejection after she stopped acting on Citizen TV’s Machachari series. She confessed this in a lengthy post on Instagram where she pointed out that she almost gave up on acting owing to the rejection she faced from different people. Joy posted,
“My acting career began at Machachari before it plateaued. Honestly, dealing with rejection after rejection really demoralized me. My parents and circle however kept encouraging me how talented I am, I held on to the little hope I would summon, but guys it was running out!”
She narrated how she tried recording a monologue for Salem alongside her friend. She reminisced praying together with her friend for the role and how they recorded the video and play the character.She recounted deleting and muting the chat after submitting her audition video. Weeks later she was invited to an interview and landed the job. Since then Joy said that she would invest in her craft and believe in herself.
” On 2nd March 2023 in the evening I was with my closest friend @mkull.s when I decided to finally record the monologue for Salem.”
“I told her let’s just pray about this before we start, we took over 6 tapes and I was getting frustrated cause this girl was like “eh Rubi is mean and sassy be more sassy!” And I literally wanted to beat her, I remember just giving her the phone to send one clip and delete the message because again I was not ready for rejection.”
Joy thanked her family and circle for always supporting her when she was down and saw it as a way to celebrate better things that await her in her career.
“A big thank you to my family and circle for holding me down when I thought I couldn’t make it! Anyways this is just a start to celebrating great things to come. The little things matter! Don’t give up, own it, grow with it, keep on going,”.
