Davis Chirchir is a Kenyan politician and currently a Cabinet Secretary of Energy and Petroleum since 2022. He has been a close associate of President William Ruto and this saw him get the CS slot from the Kenya Kwanza government.

Chirchir is an Information Technology guru who has vast education career in IT. He started his education in Kericho high school in 1974 to 1978. He later did Form 6 in 1979 to 1980 before he could join University of Nairobi in 1981 to pursue a course in physics and computer science. He graduated in 1985. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration in International Management from the Royal Holloway School of Management, University of London.

His career started at the now defunct Kenya Posts and Telecommunication Corporations where he worked through from junior employee to the rank of General Manager. He would then move to the Telkom Kenya as a senir manager of the company. He also served as IT director of the former Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC).
In a span of two years starting from 2011 to 2013, he worked as the secretary general for the United Democratic Party (URP). His entrance into politics saw him be appointed to the cabinet in 2013 as cabinet secretary for energy and petroleum but was forced out of office in 2015 after being engaged in corrupt dealings.
His success in delivering the Jubilee Party’s 2013 election made Former president Uhuru Kenyatta name him as his chief agent in the 2017 elections. He would later serve as Chief of Staff in Deputy President’s office duirng William Ruto’s tenure as DP after the death of Ken Osinde just few months before the 2022 general elections.
After successful election in 2022 in favor of Kenya Kwanza, on 27 September 2022, he was appointed by President William Ruto as the cabinet secretary in Charge of Energy and Petroleum.
