Kenyans are still finding it hard to watch the heartbreaking CCTV footage of how thugs shot dead a police officer in Kayole on Tuesday night.
David Mayaka who was a police officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigation, DCI, at Makadara was on his way home together with his wife when their car got a puncture at around 10 pm when they were at Mihang’o area in Kayole. They stopped to fix it and this is where the tragedy took place. They were along the St. Michael – Boston road opposite Fishers of Men Church when a group of three thugs riding on a motorbike pulled up.
They thought these were just good Samaritans who wanted to offer a hand but before they could know it, these thugs pulled out a gun and shot David Mayaka twice and then shot his wife on the leg and left with their phones. The injured woman screamed for help and some motorists stopped by to help her. However, the husband, David Mayaka, died on the spot from gunshot wounds.
