Pregnancy is one of the most delicate stages in a woman’s life. Taking care of your diet during pregnancy is so important for your own health and the health of the young one to be. It is therefore important to always mind what kind of food you eat while pregnant and here are some of the best and recommended foods;

Avocados

These precious fruits contain monosaturated fatty acids which is respoonsible for their butter taste. They are also rich in healthy fats, folate and potassium.

Consuming avocado during pregnancy will provide the healthy fats which will help in building the skin, brain, and tissues of the foetus.  Folate on the other hand helps to prevent neural tube defects and developmental abnormalities of the brain and spine. Presence of potassium may help to relieve leg cramps.

Water

Human body should always remain hydrated especially fpr a pregnant lady. When one is pregnant, blood volume increases by about 45% and so a lot of water is needed to keep the baby and the woman hydrated. Mild dehydration can cause headaches, anxiety, tiredness, bad mood, and reduced memory.

Adequate water intake will also help relieve constipation and reduce your risk of urinary tract infections, which are common during pregnancy.

Sweet potatoes

The orange colour of sweet potatoes is gotten from carotenoids, which is converted to vitamin A in the body. Consuming potatoes will provide the baby with vitamin A needed for healthy bones, lungs, eyes, and skin development.

Dark leafy greens and brocoli

Broccoli and dark leafy greens like spinach, kale, and Swiss chard are rich in vitamins and nutrients, such as vitamins AC, and K, as well as calciumiron, and folate. They also contain antioxidants and fiber, which can ease constipation.

Less fat Meat and Poultry

Meat is an a good source of protein and B vitaminsiron, and zinc. Iron supplies oxygen to the cells in the body and a pregnant lady needs more oxygen therefore one need to consume more zinc.

Eggs.

Eggs are great source of proteins and they are very affordable. From eggs, you can also acquire vitamin D which plays a key role in building strong bones and teeth for the baby, as well as keeping the mother’s immune system in fighting form. Choline which is an essential nutrient for brain and nervous system development is also found in eggs.
