76 people die due to floods, the government allocates B. 7

About 76 Kenyans have died as a result of the ongoing El Nino rain which has caused disaster across the country causing floods and landslides.

House spokesman Hussein Mohamed said that the Cabinet, in an emergency session on Monday chaired by President William Ruto, came up with several measures to help reduce the effects of El Nino in Kenyans.

This is happening following the floods that have caused the death of people, displacement of families and damage to property.

According to the statement of the cabinet, a total of 38 out of 47 counties are in danger of being hit by floods, rivers bursting their banks, landslides, loss of livestock and damage to farms and infrastructure.

“The Cabinet regretted that we have lost 76 Kenyans to El Nino while 35,000 houses have been displaced in the most affected areas, the North East, East and Coast Regions.

” The spokesperson of the White House also noted that the government has allocated Ksh. 7 billion to deal with the effects of rain. Part of the money, the palace said, belongs to dairy farmers while the government takes action to buy additional milk.

“To help farmers who have been badly affected, the government has distributed 500 million shillings to the KCC Mpya company to buy extra milk this rainy season,” he said.
