Five people have lost their lives and several others were admitted to hospital after a vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a road accident in Naivasha on Monday morning.
The accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a truck at Kinungi Flyover as you head to Naivasha.
The 14-seater matatu belonged to Team SWAT and is believed to have left Western Kenya heading to Nairobi.
The exact number of people injured was yet to be established by the time of going to the press.
This is not the first time the Team SWAT shuttle has been involved in an accident in the Naivasha area.
Seven months ago, six students aboard team SWAT shuttle perished in an accident near Delamere in Naivasha.
The learners were traveling home from Western heading to Nairobi. Seven other people were injured in the accident.
The students were of Mbihi secondary school in Vihiga.
Speaking about the accident that happened on April 18 at Delamere along the Nakuru-Naivasha Highway, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen said the driver of the vehicle was on a suicide mission.
“The children who died in Naivasha would not have died had that driver not overlapped… He knew there was traffic but he kept on overlapping… But that driver was on a suicidal mission,” the CS said.
