15 PEOPLE have died while seven were injured in an accident that happened at dawn on Tuesday at Twin Bridge, Mau Summit on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
The police have said that the accident happened at nine in the morning and involved a Northways Shuttle bus and a Classic Kings of Congo bus. Kuresoi North Police Commander Judah Gathenge has confirmed the accident, where he has explained that eight adults and seven children died.
The bus was heading towards Nairobi while the matatu was heading towards Eldoret. The injured have been taken to the hospital in Molo while the bodies of the dead have been taken to the Molo cemetery.
Apart from Twin Bridge, other dangerous places on the Nairobi-Nakuru-Eldoret highway are Ngata-Sobea-Salgaa, Migaa, Karai, where 40 people died in 2017. Others are Kinungi, Mbaruk, Gilgil, and St Mary’s on the Nakuru-Nairobi highway.
There is also the Gilgil-Nakuru-Kasambara-Kikopey belt, and parts of Timboroa and Makutano in the Burnt Forest area.
Tuesday’s accident comes just one month after five people died in an accident that occurred at Eveready area on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway. The accident involved a 14-passenger tricycle and a trailer truck at the Eveready roundabout.
